Our 65 professionals led by senior executives with over 180 years experience in the renewable and broader energy sector has collectively developed over 50 GW in their careers. Mike ONeil - CEO Element Power - Renewable Energy Developers

Mike O'Neill is a founding member of Element Power and has over 20 years experience in the renewable energy sector, specifically with Renewable Energy Systems (RES). A chartered accountant by training, he transitioned from Group Finance Director to Commercial Director of RES where his ambit comprised all activities outside of North America. As a key management figure Mike sat on both the North American and RES Group Boards, helping to steer the company from a small UK developer to a leading international developer and IPP, with over 4000 MW’s developed and built in numerous countries. Mike gained his ACA training qualification with Spicer & Oppenheim after completing an Honours degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Brighton, UK.
Nick Hexter - Group Financial Director, Element Power - Renewable Energy Developers, London, UK

Nick Hexter joined the Element Power Board in May 2014 and took up the role of Group CFO during July 2014. Nick is a finance professional with 28 years of experience in banking, financial consultancy and various dedicated roles within the Natural Resource sector. Nick has undertaken a range of activities working with mid to large multi-national clients covering M&A, recapitalisations, restructuring, MBOs and many other corporate transactions. He served as the Head of Global Wealth Solutions and Structured Investor Solutions at RBS until June 2007. Since then, Nick has worked with a U.S. based Natural Resource entrepreneur as Chief Investment Officer and acted as CFO to a PE sponsored business focussed on electricity generation for the UK reserve market.

Tim Cowhig, Chief Executive Officer , Element Power Ireland

As chartered accountant with over 20 years commercial experience, Tim was instrumental in setting up SWS Energy where, as CEO and Executive Director, he oversaw nearly 200MW of operational wind and 400MW of development projects ahead of its sale to Bord Gais in December 2009. Tim has long been a champion of the Irish renewable energy sector; including as Chairman of the Irish Wind Energy Association (IWEA) from 2002 to 2009 and currently as a director of the association. Through ongoing involvement he has led the development of wind energy among Irish policy makers, regulators and financial institutions. Tim holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University College, Cork. He is a member of Institute of Directors and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Kevin O'Donovan, Chief Development Officer, Element Power Ireland

Kevin was previously entrusted with all business development and project delivery at SWS Energy. Initially focusing on the development of sites including site selection, design and permitting, Kevin was also responsible for the acquisition of wind projects including due diligence and commercial arrangements. In the years prior to the sale of SWS in 2009, he managed a team of project managers who built 200MW across 10 wind farms, as well as managing the wind resource assessment team. Kevin has also worked with Fehily Timoney as a consultant specializing in wind.

Kevin earned a B.Eng in Civil Engineering at the University College Cork and an M.Eng.Sc in Renewable Energy at University College Cork.

Peter Harte, Chief Technology Officer, Element Power

Peter has ultimate responsibility for the cost modelling of technology options both for Irish projects as well as for the identification of opportunities for system (ancillary) services in Ireland.

Prior to Element Power, Peter was responsible for all SWS Energy activities required to secure, permit and construct the grid connections for the 200MW of operational and 400MW of development projects. While at SWS he also set up their supply business, enabling wind farms to trade directly in the Irish electricity market for the first time. Peter sits on the Irish Wind Energy Association (IWEA) Council, is a director of IWEA and chairs the IWEA Markets Committee.

Peter holds a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Limerick, and worked at Accenture building IT systems after graduating.

Sean Maguire - Commercial Manager, Element Power

Prior to joining Element Power, Sean was a Senior Corporate Finance Executive with Airtricity (subsequently SSE Renewables). During his time at Airtricity, Sean was focused on M&A and financing in the UK, Ireland, China and across mainland Europe in both the onshore and offshore wind sectors. Sean qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the Business Advisory Services practice in KPMG Dublin. Sean holds an Economics Degree from Trinity College Dublin and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Alan Edwards, Element Power

Alan has +10 yrs experience in the construction and operation of windfarms. Prior to joining Element Power, he was responsible for managing over 530MW of wind assets, including  more than 250 wind turbines and 24 windfarms for SWS, Bord Gais Energy, and Brookfield Renewables. He is Chairman of the IWEA Operations sub committee.

Alistair Metcalfe, Element Power Group General Counsel

Prior to joining Element Power, Alistair spent five years working at The Addax and Oryx Group with a particular focus on its renewable energy division, Addax Bioenergy.  During his time at Addax Bioenergy, Alistair worked on all legal aspects of project development providing a range of corporate, commercial, financial, energy, construction and general in-house legal advice.  He has a BA in history from Durham University and was admitted to the roll of Solicitors of the Supreme Court of England & Wales in 2007.  He began his career in private practice at Allen & Overy LLP with a focus on corporate law.

Adam Schwarz - Business Development Manager , Element Power

Adam joined Element Power in 2010 and has 13 years' experience encompassing technical consulting and business development in the renewables sector. An engineer by training, Adam commenced his career in renewables at Garrad Hassan & Partners where he spent nine years delivering technical services focused on wind resource and energy yield assessment and technical due diligence. As a Principal Engineer at GH Adam lead a staff of thirty in markets across Europe and North America. Prior to joining Element Adam was Technical Director for a start-up offshore wind developer in Norway where he developed the business and technical strategy focused on next-generation deep-water projects. Adam has a degree in Aerospace Engineering from RMIT, Melbourne and an MBA from HEC, Paris.

Prior to joining element Power, Christina began her career in Dunnes Stores Retail Company working her way up to HR Manager across many outlets, most recently managing the HR function for 92 staff at store level. During her time at Dunnes Stores, Christina was focused on the full HR cycle including: interviewing, employment law, issuing of contracts, induction, appraisals, cultural change and discipline, grievance and people management. Christina graduated from University College Cork with a BA Hons. Christina also holds a CIPD accredited distinction in Human Resource Management from Cork College of Commerce and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development

Conor has more than 15 years’ experience in the wind industry covering development, construction and asset management and as Construction Manager for Element Power he has managed the delivery of more than 200MW of wind farm projects. Prior to joining the company in 2010, Conor was Asset Manager for Kilronan Windfarm Limited and had over 18 years’ experience in design, engineering manufacturing and project management across a range of industries. Conor qualified as a Chartered Engineer in 2003 and has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Project Management both from the Univeristy of Limerick.

Donal O'Sullivan, Development - Element Power, UK & Ireland, Cork, Ireland

Donal has over 10 years’ experience in developing and constructing wind farms in Ireland. Prior to joining Element Power Donal worked for SWS Energy and Bord Gais where he was responsible for development of over 100MW of wind farm projects as well as working on wind farm acquisition opportunities and new energy opportunities such as offshore wind, tidal energy and energy storage. Since joining Element Power in 2014 Donal has been primarily focussed on developing Element Power's Irish onshore development portfolio and in addition has recently taken on responsibility for the development of the UK portfolio. Prior to working in the wind industry Donal worked in the telecoms sector for a number of years. Donal holds a B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from UCC and is in the final semester of completing an MBS0 in Business Practice from the Irish Management Institute and UCC.

Charlotte Healey - Element Power - Renewable Energy Developers

Charlotte has been working in the renewable energy sector for over 8 years, focusing primarily on large scale wind energy developments ranging from the 5 MW to >50 MW scale.

Charlotte joined Element power in April 2012, having formerly worked as Principal Developer for a leading UK utility RWE Npower Renewables. She has worked on over 500MW of wind projects, including a 82MW scheme in Cyprus and 60MW scheme in Poland. Prior to RWE Npower Renewables she worked for Your Energy as a Development Manager were she was responsible for three wind farm projects totalling 78MW all of which were consented. At Element Power she is responsible for providing development support and management to teams in Finland and Scotland. Charlotte has an environmental background with an MSc in Environmental Management.

Eeva-Maria joined Element Power Finland in 2014 and she has 15 years experience on infrastructure, energy and environmental projects. Previously Eeva-Maria worked for consultant company Ramboll as environmental expert and project manager.
